Frequently asked questions
Screening is one of the pillars of the strategy put in place by the public authorities against the Covid-19 epidemic. It is mainly based on PCR tests and antigen tests, which make it possible to find out whether a person, in this case the company’s employees or visitors, are infected by the coronavirus.
The PCR test is used to detect the active presence of the virus in the body.
Once the sample is taken, it is sent to our laboratory for analysis and can take several hours, depending on the saturation of the laboratory
If the results are positive, it means that the virus is present in the body and that the infection is ongoing.
Approximately 24-36 hours after the test has been carried out, each person will be informed individually of the results of the Covid-19 diagnostic test that has been carried out.
Other test results, such as PCRs, which take 5-7 hours, can be reported directly to the clinic.
This type of test is also used to detect active infections,as they are able to identify the presence of Covid-19 proteins.
The result is analysed at the same place where the sample was taken and can take only a few minutes. If the test is positive, it means that the virus is still present in the body and the infection is ongoing.
To be effective, it must be taken within the first seven days of the onset of infection, when the viral load is at its peak.
The drawback is that, like PCR tests, it does not detect whether the disease has been overcome.
For this, an antibody test would be necessary.
Antigen tests are generally less sensitive than PCR, but their speed of obtaining results is an advantage for quickly breaking chains of transmission, isolating positive cases and tracing at-risk contacts.
A test that analyses a blood sample to check whether or not antibodies are present in the body. Antibodies begin to appear after approximately seven days, so this test is not as effective at the beginning of the infection.
The results of both antigen and antibody tests will be given verbally and individually after 15 minutes.
